Travel Resources
Welcome to my Travel Resources page, your ultimate guide to navigating the world of travel planning with ease. These are my go-to resources that have consistently helped me plan memorable trips, and I genuinely hope you find them as useful as I have.
Accommodation
Airbnb
Airbnb can be a good choice if you’re seeking a more local experience, traveling with a group, or staying for an extended period of time and need amenities like a washing machine or full kitchen. They offer a variety of apartments and houses, as well as more unique options such as camper vans, glamping tents, and tree houses.
Booking.com
Booking.com is the best for giving travelers a general overview of all hotel choices available. In my opinion, they offer the widest selection of accommodation options in one place. The website is very user friendly and often times they offer better deals than you’d find when booking direct.
tripadvisor
After I’ve decided on a hotel, I always do a quick Tripadvisor search before actually booking it. We all know that online photos can be deceiving, so I try to check out as many sources as possible before I make a final decision. Tripadvisor reviews and photos posted by fellow travelers are helpful for gaining different perspectives about potential places to stay.
Tripadvisor is also a great platform for discovering the best things to do, places to eat and top attractions in an area.
Flights
GOOGLE FLIGHTS
Google Flights is my go-to tool for booking flights. In my opinion, it’s the most user friendly and quickest flight search engine out there.
Seatguru
I always consult SeatGuru before choosing my seat on a flight. It allows travelers to see aircraft layouts, seat reviews and other useful tips that will help make the flight more comfortable.
skyscanner
If your travel plans are flexible or you’re looking for trip inspiration, Skyscanner is the search engine for you. I love that you don’t even need to have a destination or specific dates in mind before performing a search. Simply choose your departure city, select “everywhere” as your destination, choose an entire month, and Skyscanner will give you a list of options during your time frame.
Travel Apps
Duolingo
If you’re planning to travel abroad and want to learn a new language or brush up on your skills, Duolingo can be really helpful. Although I wouldn’t count on it as your only resource for trying to become fluent in another language, it’s a great tool to help you memorize basic words and phrases.
GOOGLE MAPS
Google Maps is hands down one of the most useful apps for travelers. From the first stages of planning your trip until you’re on the road, Google Maps makes traveling so much easier. Not only is it my go-to tool for planning a road trip, but it offers other benefits as well:
- Download offline maps so you know where you’re going even without cell service
- Find restaurants, gas stations, cafes, etc in unfamiliar places
- Get walking directions and public transportation guidance
- Read reviews
- Avoid busy times at your destination
Tours
AIRBNB EXPERIENCES
Airbnb Experiences lists tours and activities offered by locals. It’s a great way to find more authentic, off-the-beaten path experiences and in most cases the group is much smaller than you’d get when booking with a larger tour company. Some of my favorite experiences to date have been booked through Airbnb Experiences.
get your guide
Get Your Guide is one of the best sites for finding tours and activities around the world. They have a generous cancellation policy and you can easily book online or through the app.
VIATOR
Similar to Get Your Guide, Viator is another of my favorite places to look for day tours. The site is easy to navigate, offers an extensive assortment of tours, and sends you a voucher immediately after booking.
Even if I don’t end up booking a tour, I love using Viator to get a general idea of all the best things to in a new place.
Transportation
welcome pickups
Welcome Pickups is my tried and true airport transfer service when I’m in an unfamiliar place. It’s very easy to book a transfer ahead of time online and you can even select the option for an English speaking driver when traveling abroad.
Suntransfers
Suntransfers is another reliable transfer service for hassle-free travel. With friendly drivers, competitive pricing, and coverage in tons of destinations worldwide, they make it easy to get where you need to go without any worries.
Travel Insurance
world nomads
One of the most well known travel insurance companies in the world, World Nomads is my top choice when I travel internationally. Purchasing insurance on the website is simple, and having it will give you piece of mind in case something goes wrong when you’re far from home.
