If you’re planning your first trip to Paris and wondering how to make the most of your time there, here’s a 6-day itinerary to help you experience all the best the city has to offer!

Day 1
Tuileries Garden
Start your first day of this 6-day Paris itinerary by wandering through Tuileries Garden. Louvre Museum

How much time you spend here really depends on personal preference. Although, two to three hours is generally enough to see the most famous works.

As you make your way across the bridge, you’ll see the Eiffel Tower in the distance, the buzzing streets of the Latin Quarter, and Notre Dame Cathedral. Popular with street performers, artists, and vendors, the Pont Neuf makes the perfect stop to pick up a one-of-a-kind souvenir.
Notre Dame Cathedral
Now it’s time to see the famous Notre Dame Cathedral. This Gothic-style cathedral, completed in the 14th century, is a sight to behold and a testament to the city’s rich history. Its intricate stone carvings, stained glass windows, and towering spires are sure to impress any visitor.
Currently, entrance to the cathedral is closed to the public due to renovations following a devastating fire in 2019. However, a brief visit to admire the architecture is still a worthwhile stop on any Paris itinerary.

Trocadero

The Trocadero is a great spot for taking photos, so I recommend arriving as early as possible for the best chance of snapping a few pictures without a crowd!
Eiffel Tower
Following your stop at the Trocadero, make your way to the Eiffel Tower. Constructed in 1889 for the World’s Fair, the tower has become synonymous with Paris and draws millions of visitors each year. I suggest buying your ticket online in advance and visiting right after it opens for the smoothest experience.
Going inside the Eiffel Tower is an experience like no other. Once you reach the top, the panoramic views of the city will take your breath away. You’ll see Paris’ most notable landmarks, such as the Arc de Triomphe and the Seine River, from a new perspective. After you’ve spent some time admiring the scenery, grab breakfast to fuel up for the day ahead.
Champ de Mars
Pick up a mouthwatering croissant and coffee from one of Paris’ renowned patisseries, and savor your treats with the Eiffel Tower as your backdrop in the lovely Champ de Mars. A picnic in the Champ de Mars is a quintessential Parisian experience that shouldn’t be missed. People-watch as both locals and tourists enjoy the park’s beauty, and soak up the relaxed atmosphere of this charming spot.
Musée d’Orsay
Now it’s time to take a leisurely walk from the Champ de Mars along the scenic Seine River to the Musée d’Orsay. The Musée d’Orsay is a must-visit attraction for any art lover in Paris. Located in a gorgeous Beaux-Arts building, the museum houses an outstanding collection of Impressionist and Post-Impressionist art. First, start the day by climbing the hill to Sacré-Cœur, a stunning basilica with amazing panoramic views. The ascent is a bit steep, but the scenery is well worth it! When you reach the top, take a moment to admire the magnificent view and the beauty of the basilica.
While at Sacré-Cœur, you won’t want to miss the chance to see the “sinking house”, just a short walk away. This optical illusion, which makes it look like the house is sinking into the ground, provides a fun and quirky photo opportunity.
Place du Tertre
After leaving Sacré-Cœur, wander the winding streets of Montmartre, lined with quaint shops and cafes. Pass by street performers, artists, and vendors selling everything from souvenirs to delectable crepes.
One of the best spots in Montmartre is the Place du Tertre, a picturesque square where artists set up their easels and sell their work. Stroll around, admire the artwork, and even have your portrait painted by one of the talented artists. Charming cafes and restaurants surround the square, offering plenty of cozy spots to soak up the Montmartre ambiance.
Wall of Love
Next up on the itinerary is a stop at the Wall of Love, or Le Mur des Je t’aime, for another quick photo opp. This work of art consists of over 600 tiles, each featuring the phrase “I love you” in over 300 different languages. Created as a universal symbol of love and peace, the wall has become a popular destination for tourists to come and take photos and admire the colorful tiles.
Day 5
Begin day five of this 6-day Paris itinerary with a quick pop-in at Boulangerie Julambre, a cute bakery offering a large selection of pastries. The croissants were some of the best I had in Paris and its convenient location just a ten-minute walk from the Arc de Triomphe makes stopping here a breeze!
Arc de Triomphe
Next up: a morning visit to the Arc de Triomphe. The monument stands at the western end of the Champs-Élysées and was built to honor those who fought and died for France in the French Revolution and Napoleonic Wars. Climbing to the top offers dazzling views of Paris, making it a favorite spot for photographers and tourists. Be prepared to climb 284 steps to reach the top, but the breathtaking views of the city and the Champs-Élysées below are too good to miss out on.
Champs-Élysées
From the Arc de Triomphe take a short walk to the Champs-Élysées. One of the most recognized avenues in the world, it stretches from the Arc de Triomphe to the Place de la Concorde. This iconic street, lined with shops and bistros, is a great place to indulge in some retail therapy or people-watching. Whether you’re window shopping or stopping for a coffee at one of the many sidewalk cafes, a stroll along the Champs-Élysées is a must-do on any Paris itinerary.
Pont Alexandre III
After exploring the Champs-Élysées, the next item on the agenda is the Pont Alexandre III, one of Paris’ most stunning bridges. It was constructed in the Beaux-Arts style, adorned with ornate sculptures, intricate ironwork, and golden statues. Walking along the bridge offers lovely views of the Seine River and Parisian landmarks like the Eiffel Tower and Les Invalides.
Place de la Concorde
Once you’ve finished admiring the Pont Alexandre III, head over to the Place de la Concorde. Day 6
Loire Valley
On the final day of this 6-day Paris itinerary, take a ride to the Loire Valley for a change of scenery. Known for its lush gardens, beautiful chateaux, and extensive vineyards, the Loire Valley is one of the most common day trips from Paris. It’s the perfect getaway from the city and a day trip allows you to experience a taste of the delightful French countryside. If you have a rental car, the region is just a short drive from Paris, or you could take a guided tour.
Popular stops include; the Chateau de Chambord, the most grand of the Loire Valley chateaux, the Chateau de Chenonceau, also referred to as the Ladies Castle due to its connection to Catherine de Medici and Diane de Poitiers, and the Château d’Amboise, known for its connection to Leonardo da Vinci, who spent his final years living nearby and is buried in the castle’s chapel.
